Our Story

A dog and a turkey,

both rescued from the meat trade

In 2015 I adopted a scruffy puppy who was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea. I fell madly in love with my new best friend, who I named Minnow. Her rescue from a dog meat farm touched me deeply and I was inspired to learn more about the animals in our farming systems in the United States.

Two year later, I was contacted by an animal rescue about a 6 week old turkey who was saved from an industrial turkey farm. Without pause, I excitedly agreed to take this little turkey home. I named her Blossom and once again, fell madly in love.

Minnow and Blossom became instant friends and they are the inspiration for our sanctuary. In 2021, Blossom sadly passed away, but her spirit lives on through the work that we do at Minnow and Blossom’s Place.
